You can also explore the shore on the miles of biking and hiking trails. Being surrounded by protected lands, this area allows you to really get into nature. The scenery won’t be interrupted by a condo development, but you may pass a camper or two at one of the many campsites along the shore. The one development you will welcome is the Hickory Knob State Resort Park. This beautiful lodge has all the amenities you’ll need. With comfortable rooms and great dining, Hickory Knob provides a place to relax and still enjoy the scenery after a long day of adventures. Or if you prefer your nature walks to be interrupted by a game of golf, Hickory Knob offers an 18-hole championship course along Lake Thurmond. Coyotes often travel in packs and threaten the deer and turkey populations. Caution is strongly recommended to hunters because coyotes will attack humans in addition to animals. The KeturahA restored hotel which now serves as home to MACK (McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah), the Keturah is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Old 96 District Whitetail Deer 2010-11 SeasonThe Old 96 District offers a variety of outdoor recreation, but the real fun comes for the hunting enthusiasts. In most areas of the Old 96 District, there is a Whitetail Deer ration of 30-45 per square miles. |

The Little River Blueway is an outdoor adventurer’s dream. With 51 miles of calm water, there is plenty to see by canoe or kayak.
